Man drowns while extracting sand from Jhelum in Pulwama

Srinagar, Aug 12: A 45-year-old man drowned while extracting sand from river Jhelum in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said.
They said a group of men were extracting sand from the bank of river Jhelum at Kakpora in Pulwama on Sunday afternoon.
However, a man, identified as Ali Mohammad Malik, slipped and fell into the river. Other people present at the spot also jumped into the river to save the man, but failed to do so. “Efforts were on to retrieve the body of Malik,” they added.
