KAS Officers Association condemns
Srinagar, Aug 7: A BJP activist and a lawyer Tuesday tried to assault a lady Magistrate in Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu Division. The assailant who is a lawyer allegedly garnered the support from BJP activists and abused the lady officer when she was removing the illegal encroachment in the area.
A police official said that they have registered a case against one Ankush Sharma, a lawyer by profession after SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria registered a complaint against him. He, however, added that a counter FIR was registered after the accused leveled allegations that SDM Katra also misbehaved with him.
Meanwhile, the KAS Officers Association strongly condemned misbehavior with a lady officer Neelam Khajuria SDM Katra by a person namely Ankush Sharma who is a lawyer by profession.
The spokesman of the KAS Officers Association said incident happened when the lady officer, who is known for her integrity and professionalism, was performing her legitimate duties of removing illegal encroachments from the area.
The spokesperson further said thst during the course of the drive, the person namely Ankush Sharma s/o Bansi Lal r/o Kundrorian Katra misbehaved with the lady officer by using abusive language after which the lady officer lodged an FIR against the person. “The said person, who happens to be a lawyer by profession, however managed to garner support from the local bar Council and by putting pressure on authorities got a counter FIR lodged against the Lady officer. The Association feels that lodging of an FIR against a magistrate on duty and that too when an FIR already stands lodged in the case goes against the basic tenets of law,” he said.
KAS Officers Association said such maltreatment with a lady magistrate on duty will not only set a bad precedence but will also demoralise the officers who are discharging their legitimate duties in toughest circumstances.
The Association has requested the higher authorities to lend their support to officers in such testing times. (CNS)
