Life remains affected in Anantnag, Khudwani


Anantnag, Jul 27: Life remained crippled for the third day on Friday due to strike in this south Kashmir town and adjoining areas, where two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed by security forces at Lal Chowk on Wednesday in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).
Business and other activities also remained paralysed at Khudwani, the home town of one of the two slain militants. Life elsewhere in the south Kashmir, including Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and other areas was normal.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road in this town and adjoining areas though there was no strike call. Work in government offices and banks also remained affected due to strike. Additional security forces remained deployed in the town and other sensitive areas to prevent any law and order problem today, being Friday. Majority shops and business establishments also remained closed at Bijbehara on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in the Anantnag district. However, traffic was plying normally on the highway though additional security forces had been deployed to prevent any stone pelting.
Business and other activities were affected at Khudwani and adjoining areas. Traffic was also off the roads. Partial strike was observed in Kulgam.
