Bijbehara locals accuse forces of harassment

Bijbehara, Jul 27: Angry protesters pelted stones on government forces after they allegedly thrashed a couple of pedestrians and damaged vehicles in Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Locals alleged that everything was normal in the town when forces personnel emerged in the town and started frisking and demanding I-cards from people.
Locals alleged that forces personnel without any provocation and reasons started beating people and even smashed windshields of the vehicles.
They said that the forces action forced people to pelt stones on them. The clashes created panic in the area while shopkeepers lowered their shutters and drivers took alternative routes to reach their destination.
When contacted a police official said that they are looking into the matter. He said the matter is being investigated. (CNS)
