Vakil asks New Delhi to start result oriented talks with Pak, Hurriyat

Srinagar, Jul 26: President Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former minister, Abdul Gani Vakil Thursday stressed upon New Delhi to shun its stubborn attitude and start a result oriented dialogue with Pakistan and Hurriyat.
He said India like an “elder brother” should initiate the process of dialogue so that J&K comes out of this long spell of political morass that has only resulted in bloodshed.
Addressing a party convention at Dangiwacha in Baramulla, Vakil said when North Korea and South Korea after 60 years of war mongering can come on the talking table to resolve their issues what stops India and Pakistan to do the same.
He blamed GoI for only beating the drum about dialogue and in reality does nothing concrete about it on the ground.
“They only talk about dialogue but have never seriously initiated a process,” Vakil said.
Terming the dynastic politics a root cause of all the problems J&K has been facing, Vakil said the two families of Muftis and Abdullahs for the greed of power have thrown state into turbulent times and it is a main reason behind lingering Kashmir issue.
“These families never wanted resolution of Kashmir for the greed of power. It is the time for all of us to stand, unite and throw these families out of power once for all. Only then we can solve all our small and big issues,” he said.
He said the NC, PDP with Congress eroded Article 370 and reduced it to nothing.
The Congress party, Vakil said should be ashamed of its practices.
“The Congress brought down the offices of Sadr-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister of J&K by changing their nomenclature. Likewise, PDP and NC played a key role in implementing some laws of Indian union in Kashmir, GST being the latest, by further eroding Article 370, which otherwise gives a special status to Kashmir.
The Party Convention later passed several resolutions. The first resolution demanded compensation for the orchardists who have suffered losses due to heavy rains and hailstorm and later the strike call by transporters that heavily damaged the fruit industry.
The second resolution demanded release of all political prisoners lodged in different jails in and outside state.
The third resolution demanded regularization of all the daily-wagers working in different departments for last several years and release of their wages.
The other party leaders who spoke during the daylong Convention include General Secretary and Ex. MLC Syed Rafiq Shah, Spokesperson, Hakim Parvaiz, senior leaders Ghulam Mohd Shigoo, Ghulam Hassan Lone, Ghulam Nabi Shah and youth leader Rizwan Illahi.
