Srinagar, Jul 26: Train service resumed on Thursday after remaining suspended on Wednesday for security reasons in south Kashmir, where two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter by security forces in Lal Chowk Area of Anantnag yesterday.
However, train service was not affected in north Kashmir, where all trains were running as per scheduled between Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla yesterday, a senior railway official said.
He said a fresh advisory was received from police last night to resume train service in south Kashmir also.
Therefore, he said, train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region as per schedule Thursday.
Train service has become very popular in the Kashmir valley as it is cheap, fast and safe against other mode of transport.
