Chief Conservator of Forests visits north Kashmir

DFOs asked to take up proactive, coordinated steps jointly with FPF

Srinagar, Jul 26: The Chief Conservator of Forests, Farooq Gillani, IFS conducted a detailed tour of Langate, Kehmil and Kamraj Forest Divisions of North Kashmir.
During the visit plantation works under CAMPA were inspected by him at Shilthera Mawar and Vodhpora Kupwara.
He also inspected conifer nurseries at Sanzipora, Zachaldara and Zangli and gave instructions to field officers for their proper maintenance for quality plant production.
Later on, a meeting with the officers of all divisions of North Kashmir was held at Forest Complex Zangli Kupwara to review the progress on time bound action on various administrative matters pertaining to field staff like conducting of DPC at circle level and submission of cases under SRO 520.
The DFOs were asked to take up proactive & coordinated steps jointly with FPF to ensure that no damage to the forest takes place and protection measures are taken at all levels.
During the meeting, the DFOs were asked to take on top priority the eradication of alleged bung cultivation in some areas of Kupwara forests and eviction of already recorded encroachment on forest land and report progress within one week.
