PDP leadership in a tight spot

PDP leadership in a tight spot

State president of Bharatiya Janata Party Ravinder Raina has stated that his party is ready for elections and has shown no interest in government formation in the state.
Since the day PDP-BJP coalition government has fallen in the state the PDP rebels have raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership and have created an impression that they are out to form a new dispensation in the state with the support of BJP. But the saffron party has been maintaining that it’s not a part of the government formation.
Many people believe that BJP leaders don’t want to go public and want to strike a deal with the PDP rebels secretly. There are possibilities about new government being put at place after Amarnath Yatra ends in August.
On the other hand the PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is trying hard to keep her flock together. Till date she has not expelled any of the rebels and seems to be hoping that they would return to the party fold. But her attempts have not yielded the desired results.
BJP by maintaining silence over the issue has kept its cards close to its chest and seems least interested in opening these cards. The BJP leaders are creating a notion that they are “okay” with Governor’s rule and want normalcy to be restored in the Valley.
Till now it’s not clear whether the government would be formed or not but one thing is for sure that PDP has been left in disarray and it has turned out to be the biggest loser. Even if the new dispensation is formed it would be at the cost of PDP and if fresh polls are held PDP would have nothing to sell.
