Srinagar, Jul 17: The state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday claimed that situation in Jammu and Kashmir was returning to normalcy since the Governor’s rule was imposed in the State.
Talking to a news agency, BJP’s newly appointed Chief spokesperson and state president; Ravinder Raina said that the Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a drastic change in the situation here since the Governor’s rule was imposed.
“The state has seen drastic change in the situation following the Governor’s rule especially there was downfall in stone pelting incidents and lawlessness here. We believe that imposition of Governor’s rule is good and we will keep focusing on it,” he said while denying the possibilities of government formation, adding that the law and order situation in the State is returning towards normalcy.
Asked about the constitution of new team for Jammu and Kashmir, Raina informed that since there was change in leadership as he was appointed as state president, it was mandatory for him to constitute a new team. “Since the Lok Sabha polls are approaching, the party has decided to constitute a new team. About 80 per cent of people in the new team are youngsters and are capable enough to strengthen the party on gross root level,” he said.
He said that the constitution of new team has no connection with the government formation. “It was purely an organizational process,” he said.
Reacting to a query, Raina said that the Ramadhan truce was a peace initiative by the Modi-led government in the State but Pakistan, militants, Hurriyat leaders and stone pelters took it otherwise as the killing of innocent people was taking place, abduction was taking place, even people didn’t celebrate Eid due to such killings. “How can we act as mute spectator when Pakistan killed innocent people even on Eid? So, we had to call off the initiative and to retaliate for the interest of people,” he added. (KNS)
