Police foil protest march of teachers in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 17:  Police on Tuesday foiled the protest march of teachers  towards Governor NN Vohra’s official residence Raj Bhawan here.
Reports said that hundreds of teachers had assembled at Sher-i-Kashmir Park near Polo View here under the banner of  JK Teachers Forum and were protesting against government’s failure to implement 7th pay commission for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and head teachers in schools.
As the teachers began to march on Residency road policemen swung into action and dispersed the teachers by using colored water canon.
Also, dozens of protesters, including union leaders were bundled in police vehicle and lodged at Kothi  Bagh Police station.
