Freedom of press violated by pressurizing media persons: JK Editors Forum

Srinagar, Jul 15: Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum Sunday strongly condemned the arrest of Kashmir based journalist by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
In a statement, the Forum said that Government of India hell bent to suppress voice of journalism in Jammu and Kashmir by adopting ‘different tactics.’
The Editors Forum said the summoning of Auqib Javed, by NIA at its New Delhi office was a “ploy to frighten the journalist fraternity of Kashmir.”
“The freedom of press is violated by pressurizing media persons or either imposing curbs on publications,” it said.
Over fragile position of journalism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Forum said that “it is almost a very difficult task to pursue the norms of a free press in this state.” (KNS)
