Renewed militancy, uprising outcome of broken promises, betrayals: Hakeem Yaseen

Srinagar, Jul 13: Saying that the prevailing political uncertainty in the state and alienation among the people was the outcome of repeated betrayals of public mandate and their trust during last 6 decades, the Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen Friday said that the previous coalition government cobbled through unholly alliance added much fuel to the fire to the already surcharged socio-political atmosphere in the state. He said, though situation in the state was always politically explosive since 1947 but the rigging of elections in 1987 followed by the installation of previous coalition against the wishes of people bonhomie has played a spoilspot in the total political landscape of the state resulting in the outbreak of renewed militancy.
Replying to the queries of media persons after paying floral tribute to the martyrs of 13 July 1931 , alongwith his party other office bearers at Mazar-e-Shuhda in Srinagar, Hakeem Yaseen said that the mainstream political parties since 1947 repeatedly hurt the sentiments and emotions of the innocent and straightforward people of the state, not caring about the dangerous consequences and repercussions of the beyrayal of their mandate. “It was the outcome of repeated betrayal of people’s mandate and their trust that we see a mass public uprising and renewed militancy in the state today, Hakeem observed while asking all political and social organizations, at the helm of affairs, to introspect and ponder as to how the prevailing vicious cycle of violence could be overcome. He said that the state gets devastated with each passing day, both socially and economically due to the ongoing political turmoil adding that need of the hour was that political parties join hands to end this violence instead of mudslinging against each other.
He said that the people of the state are politically wise enough now and cannot be deceived with lies and hollow promises like in past adding that time has come to fulfill their political and social aspirations through dialogue instead of banking on military might.
While paying rich tribute to the martyrs of 13 July, 1931, Hakeem Yasin said that the best way to salute those brave hearts was to work for fulfilling their mission against oppression and violation of human rights values. He said that it was most unfortunate that since 1931, our leadership has not been able to achieve the goal shown by these martyrs because of our vested interests. “we deviated from the principles and path shown by martyrs and bartered their blood, just for petty political gains.
While urging the political parties for self introspection, Hakeem Yaseen called for shunning the appeasement policy and press for meeting the genuine aspirations of the people through the process of dialogue and reconciliation.
