Militant attack leaves two CRPF personnel dead in Achabal


Anantnag, Jul 13: Militants attacked a troopers vehicle in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district killing two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel including an Assistant Sub-Inspector.
The attack that was carried out by militants at Achabal area also left another trooper and a civilian injured.
A police official while confirming the incident said that militants attacked a 96/D CRPF party resulting into the death of an Assistant Sub Inspector ML Meena. While identifying the injured civilian as Ghulam Rasool, the official said that two troopers who suffered critical injuries were rushed to army’s 92 base hospital in Badamibagh, Srinagar among which Sandeep Yadav succumbed to his injuries. The injured trooper Constable Badan Singh is being treated at the Army hospital.
“We have registered an FIR and investigation has been taken up,” the official said. “Initial investigation reveals that militants emerged in a private vehicle in the area.
Reports said that the area was cordoned off shortly after the attack; however, no arrests were made.
Meanwhile, suspected militants attacked a police station at Yaripora Kulgam. However, no loss of life or property was reported in the attack.
Claiming the attack on CRPF patrol in Achabal, Lashkar-e-Toiba spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi said that two troopers including an officer were killed in the attack. (CNS)
