Boy killed, 5 others injured in Shopian blast

Srinagar, Jul 11: A minor boy was killed and five others including a girl sustained splinter injuries in a mysterious blast at Memendar village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
Reports said that a group of minor boys were playing at Memander village and were fiddling an explosive device which exploded resulting in injuries to six of them.
All the injured were taken to district hospital Shopian where one among the seriously wounded declared brought dead, they said.
The deceased has been identified as Salik Ahmad son of Mohammad Iqbal Malik of Gundhadoo.
The injured have been identified as Razia Sheikh daughter of Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh, Arsalan Ahmad Sheikh, Shoaib Ahmad Ganie and Junaid Ahmad Ganie.
While Junaid has been treated at district hospital Shopian, Razia, Arsalan and Shoaib have been referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that a case under FIR no. 212/2018 u/s 286 has been registered and further investigations taken up. (GNS)
