Baramulla student injured in BSF firing succumbs after 16 days

Baramulla, Jul 10: The budding student who was critically injured in BSF firing succumbed to his injuries after 16 days on Tuesday morning.
Ubaid Manzoor Lone (22), a resident of Nadihal Baramulla was critically injured after BSF men from 149 Battalion fired upon him on June 25 during a student protest. He had been undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura from past 16 days.
Family members of Ubaid claimed that he was returning back when he was fired at by government forces leaving him in a pool of blood. They said that Ubaid was just returning home from school and was not part of protesting youth.
Large number of people participated in the funeral procession of Ubaid Manzoor. The mourners chanted pro-freedom slogans and termed the killing of Ubaid as cold blooded murder. They demanded an FIR be lodged against BSF and action should be initiated against the guilty. (CNS)
