Srinagar, Jul 10: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday organised an intensified anti-encroachment cum sanitation drive in Hari Singh High Street and its allied areas.
According to a statement, the drive which was taken up on the directions of Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Ahmed Wani was organized by Enforcement wing in Collaboration with sanitation wing under the supervision of Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) Sufi Akbar.
Ward Officer Jawahar Nagar, Enforcement Officer South and Sanitation Officer East actively participated in the drive.
All the street vendors during the drive were directed to restrain from encroaching road side spaces and not to display the goods outside the shops, the statement added.
All the goods and articles illegally displayed were seized on spot and later more than two truckloads of seized items were brought to Municipal Central Central office Karan Nagar, it added.
A grand awareness was created through public addressing system in these areas among the vendors regarding anti-encroachments and awareness on sanitation was also created among people in general, the statement said, adding that more than hundred people both from sanitation and enforcement wing were involved in the drive.
