MGNREGA contractual employees extend strike by 72 hours

Srinagar, Jul 10: MGNREGA contractual employees have extended their protest to 72 hours against the non-seriousness of government to absorb them in the department.
J&K MGNREGA Employees Association Chairman Syed Jaffar said that earlier they had decided to observe 48 hours protest and now they have extended it to 72 hours.
He said that government framed job policy and absorbed thousands of casual and contractual labourers in different departments, however, so far it has failed to frame any proper job policy for them.
“We appeal present dispensation to fulfill our genuine demands and absorb us in Rural Development Department.”
Syed Jaffar while seeking the intervention of Governor NN Vohra appealed him to look into the matter and mitigate the sufferings of hundreds of MGNREGA contractual employees. (CNS)
