Civilian injured in landmine blast in Uri

Baramulla, Jul 10: A civilian was injured critically when he accidently stepped over a landmine near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in this north Kashmir district on Tuesday, official sources said.
They said a 40-year-old Abdul Hameed Lone, who was cutting grass, accidently stepped over a landmine near LoC at Rustam post in Uri sector Tuesday. The injured was immediately rushed to Sub-District Hospital at Uri from where he was referred to Srinagar.
Troops have laid landmines near the LoC at some selected places to prevent infiltration by militants from Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK).
People living in villages near the border are going deep into woods to get firewood and grass for their livestock. Scores of villagers, including porters working with security forces, near the LoC in north Kashmir have died or got injured due to landmine blasts since 1947.
