Srinagar, Jul 6: The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik while taking a strong note of shifting Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi along with her two associates Fahmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen to Delhi by National Investigation Agency (NIA) has called for complete shutdown tomorrow.
In a statement, JRL condemned the “brazen and dastard action” of NIA and termed it the “worst form of political vengeance and vendetta” against the resistance leadership.
JRL made a fervent appeal to people to observe complete shutdown and maintain civil curfew on 7 July 2018 against the shifting of Asiya Andrabi and her associates to Delhi by NIA. “Asiya is suffering from many ailments but rulers undemocratically shifted her to Delhi against fake allegations and keeping her incarcerated for raising voice for suppressed people,” it said.
“The incarceration, intimidations and levelling fake allegations against leadership particularly DeM is unacceptable and outcome of vengeance,” the leaders said.
Meanwhile, a JRL spokesperson while taking strong note of caging and detaining leadership said Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Bilal Sidiqee were placed under house arrest.
Lashing out at state authorities for laying curbs, declaring restrictions, JRL said the present regime has set a “new example of religious interference” as people were once again barred from offering congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
Decrying the frequent curbs and sealing of Jamia Masjid on Fridays, the JRL strongly denounced the imposition of curbs in a majority of downtown areas of Srinagar and condemned the state authorities for being “anti-Muslim” and accused it of crossing all limits of repression by creating a history of barring Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid.
