New Delhi, Jun 29: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to intensify their probe in the funding case and summon top pro-freedom leadership of Kashmir to Delhi, a news channel reported Friday.
Quoting NIA sources, the report said the probe is no longer restricted to the second-rung leadership of the pro-freedom camp.
“The top separatist leadership is now under the scanner. NIA, in all likelihood, will be sending out summons in the coming weeks. Agency sources say they have collected some credible information over the last few months,” the report added.
Over the last few months, NIA has already questioned over 10 people including financers, hawala operators.
“NIA has already summoned Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s close aide Ghulam Mohammad Bhat,” the report said.
“We are now all set for the second round. This case is humungous in nature. It is essential that we consolidate and that’s what we have done in the past few months,” an NIA official was quoted as saying.
In a related case, NIA has also summoned United Jihad Council (UJC) chief Syed Salahuddin’s son for questioning. While he was summoned in the past, sources say he hadn’t responded to the summons and had sought for more time.
The properties owned by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were also under the scanner of the agency, the report claimed.
