New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday night paid a surprise visit to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi to meet former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is since 11 June admitted at the premier hospital. Vajpayee, a nonagenarian is suffering from chest congestion, kidney tract infection, and urine output on the lower side.PM Modi visited AIIMS at around 9.05 pm and left by 9:25 pm. The interesting fact is the PM arrived at the AIIMS without any security, reported ABP News. Breaking the protocol, the PM visited the hospital without giving any prior information to the authorities.The sources told the channel that AIIMS administration came to know about the PM’s visit only after he arrived there. En route from 7 Lok Kalyan Marg to AIIMS, the Prime Minister obeyed the traffic rules and his car stopped at all traffic signals.Last week, PTI had quoted sources as saying that there has been an improvement in Vajpayee’s health even though he continued to be in the Cardio-thoracic Centre’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The treating doctors at AIIMS have not issued any fresh statement on the medical condition of the 93-year-old BJP leader.Vajpayee is a diabetic. In 2009, the former PM had suffered a stroke that weakened his cognitive abilities. The BJP stalwart has one functional kidney. Due to his worsening health conditions, Vajpayee had eventually developed dementia.Not only PM Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP chief Amit Shah, former PMs HD Deve Gowda and Manmohan Singh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
