Srinagar, June 19: Ultimately the coalition between Peoples Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party has crumbled under its own weight in Jammu and Kashmir.
An analyst while talking to Precious Kashmir said that BJP pulling out from the government suddenly has embarrassed the PDP. “The BJP has scored a brownie point over the PDP by pulling out. Had PDP made the move it would have at least saved its face,” he said, adding that “PDP has not even been left with even any facing measure. They were caught unaware and had no idea about the BJP already having decided to end the coalition.”
A political expert said, “PDP has been put in a tight spot as it couldn’t even complete the developmental works which it had undertaken in the Valley. Since the day PDP joined hands with the BJP the party lost its foothold in south Kashmir which was considered to be PDP’s citadel.”
He said, “Now the PDP has to start from zero. Earlier it had no baggage. This time it has to carry the baggage which would go against it. PDP’s future looks bleak and today the party would be regretting why it joined the hands with the BJP at the very first place.”
A Kashmir watcher said, “PDP has been claiming that it has worked for the people of Kashmir and has tried to make New Delhi soften its stand but the fact is that since the day PDP has taken over the reins of the state situation in the Valley has deteriorated.”
He said, “On the other hand BJP ensured that Jammu region gets all the benefits and it’s leaders stand with their people. Even the two BJP ministers joined the pro-rapist rally in Kathua. Both of them were later sacked but one of them Chaudary Lal Singh staged bid rallies in Jammu to seek CBI probe into the rape and murder case of an eight year old nomad girl.”
He said, “When PDP granted amnesty to the youth who were booked in connection with the stone-pelting BJP opposed it tooth and nail. The BJP opposed each and every move of the PDP and always drive home a point that hardline is the only policy which can be followed.”
A politician said, “PDP should not have given a chance to BJP to pull the rug. Instead it should have made the first move. BJP has played a master stroke just ahead of 2019 parliamentary polls.”
He said that PDP has been left in the midst by the BJP. “PDP went against the sentiments of people for the sake of BJP but the saffron party has ditched it,” the politician added.
