Security forces arrest 2 LeT OGWs in Sopore

Srinagar, Jun 19: Security forces have arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and recovered arms and ammunition from them at Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A police spokesperson said that a joint naka was laid by Police Component Rafiabad, 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 92 Battalion of CRPF near Dachanpora crossing at Rohama in Sopore in Baramulla on Monday.
During checking, he said one motorcycle, on way from Dachanpora to Rohama, tried to escape from the spot.
He said the alert Naka Party tactfully chased and overpowered the motorcyclist and his pillion mate.
“The duo identified as Arif Ahmad Malla and Rayees Ahmad Naik were immediately taken into custody,” he said.
He said during checking security forces recovered one Pistol, three Pistol rounds and a Matrix Sheet from Malla and a Hand Grenade and a Matrix Sheet from Naik.
“During further course of investigation, it surfaced that the duo were active OGWs of LeT outfit. Among them, Malla is also involved in decamping of weapons of a Special Police Officer (SPO). Further investigation of the case is going on,” he said.
More arrests are expected, he added.
