Train service resumes in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 18: Train service was resumed on Monday after remaining suspended for security reasons on Sunday in the Kashmir valley, where some miscreants pelted stones in Anantnag and Baramulla on June 16.
Train service has been resumed and all trains are running as per schedule in the Kashmir valley, a senior railway official said.
We have received a fresh advisory from police on Sunday to resume the train service in the valley, he said adding earlier on Saturday evening we were directed to suspend train service on Sunday.
He said all train will chug as per schedule on Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla track as per schedule today. Similarly trains will run on Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund to Banihal in Jammu region as per schedule, he added.
He said the service was suspended for the safety and security of passengers and rail officials. This was the fourth time train service was suspended in the valley fully or partially for security reasons.
Last month train service was suspended for 14 times in the valley. The train service has become very popular in the valley as it is being considered very cheap, fast and safe against other mode of transport.
