Baramulla, Jun 12: The Baramulla Degree College organized one more guest/extension lecture in the Conference Hall. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Inayat Mustafa Khan, Assistant Professor, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry SKUAST- K, Wadoora.
The workshop is aimed to refresh and enrich the knowledge base of faculty preferably newly recruited teachers which had recently been appointed as Assistant Professors. The technical session was anchored by Dr. A. R. Malik (Head, Department of Botany). While introducing the resource person, Dr. Malik presented his achievements in the arena of Research and highlighted the aim of organizing the teachers enrichment programme (TEP).
While welcoming the guest speaker and participants, Principal of the college Prof. F. R. Beigh in his address said, “UGC/CPE sponsored TEP Programme shall focus on grooming and honing the teaching and research skill of faculty especially those who had recently been appointed”. Principal laid emphasis on arranging such academic events intermittently in the college.
In his detailed powerpoint presentation loaded with graphics and statistical data Dr. Inayat under the theme “Soil as a key component for sustainable Agriculture” said “Sustainable agriculture is a commitment to satisfy human food and fibre needs to enhance the quality of life for farmers and society as a whole now and into the future”. Dr. Inayat while elaborating soil as a vital resource for sustainable agriculture demonstrated use of eco-friendly agricultural practices like use of bio pesticides; biofertilizers, application of Wormi compost methods which improve organic content of soil. Besides the speaker talked about crop rotation, mixed cropping, use of balanced fertilizer like N,P,K in ration of 4:2:1 and fertigation methods.
The presentation was followed by vote of thanks by UGC Coordinator A. M. Chalkoo (Associate Prof. Botany). While paying gratitude to subject expert and participants, Prof. Chalkoo acknowledged the cooperation and coordination extended by worthy Principal and establishment section for making TEP (Teacher Enrichment Programme) a grand success.
The guest speaker was felicitated with memento by Principal.
