Do justice with SSA teachers

The Sarav Shiksha Abhiyan teachers have been left in lurch as the state government has failed to release their salaries. These teachers have hit the streets demanding that their salaries should be released as per the recommendations of 7th Pay Commission as they are permanent government employees.
These teachers were regularized after serving as contractuals for the five years and they are permanent government employees. Since the day present PDP-BJP regime has come into power their fate has been hanging in balance as the present regime seems in no mood to treat them as permanent employees.
As Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching they have intensified their stir demanding that government should enhance their salaries like the other employees. These teachers are demanding their just right and nothing else. But during all these years they have been just given assurances which have remained confined to papers only.
A picture of kid holding a placard which states; “Can’t buy toys on Eid as my father is a SSA teacher,” has gone viral on social networking sites. The picture says it all. It depicts the miseries of the SSA teachers and their families.
It’s unfortunate that first government makes the people work and then makes them run from pillar to post for their wages. The strike of SSA teachers has also hit the functioning of the schools and students are suffering. The government should consider their plea without making any further delays and own them rather than allowing the entire process of implementing 7th Pay Commission getting caught in official wrangles. If the salaries of lakhs of employees can be enhanced then why are these teachers being made to suffer? The government cannot apply two yardsticks and should take a decision fast to end the uncertainty and allow the young kids of SSA teachers celebrate like other kids.
