Kichloo castigates PDP-BJP Govt for failing in resolving grievances of striking Patwaris

Kishtwar, May 31: Senior National Conference leader and former minister Mr Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo on Thursday expressed concern over the continued strike of Patwaris for the past 16 days resulting in numerous hardships to the people and held the PDP-BJP government responsible for failing in addressing their problems.
Kichloo referred to the demands of the agitating Patwaris, which inter alia include enhancement of grade pay from Rs 2400 to Rs 2800 for graduates, timely departmental promotion of Patwaris and Girdawaris, creation of GQ circles, ban on direct recruitment of Naib – Tehsildar, construction of Patwar Khanas, creation of New Patwar Halqas and suitable accommodation etc and said that instead of looking into issues, the insensitive coalition dispensation is only making promises and giving assurances. He strongly pitched for redressing the grievances of the striking Patwaris and said the government cannot remain a mute spectator.
Kichloo said that due to the strike the people are facing lot of problems, especially on account of state subject certificates (PRC), category certificates and other documents or information related to the land records or revenue documents. He said the ongoing strike has paralyzed the working of the Revenue Department at ground zero, putting the common people to inconvenience.
Kichloo urged the government to initiate a dialogue with the striking Patwaris, their associations and representatives in particular, to have the issues solved in a time bound manner. He cautioned the government against further delay, saying the indefinite strike could leave the Revenue Department defunct, resulting in increased hardships to the people.
