JKSSB candidates express resentment against Board

Srinagar, May 29: Scores of candidates who were ‘disallowed’ to sit in the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) examinations, held on May 27 have expressed resentment against the board, alleging that the authorities are putting their future at stake.
A delegation comprising of aspirants said that the authorities disallowed them to sit in the examinations on May 27 as they failed to reach their examination centres on time due to the ‘carelessness’ of the board officials.
“The examination centre was changed by the authorities but I didn’t get any information in this regard while as the admit card provided by the board also mentioned the previous centre,” Muhammad Lateef, a candidate from HMT Srinagar said.
He said that soon after he reached the centre mentioned on the admit card, he was informed that the centre has been changed. “It took my over half an hour to reach Kashmir University, new examination centre for the exams,” he said, adding that the authorities didn’t allow him to sit in the examinations.
Another candidate, Rehana for north Kashmir’s Bandpora district said that she was also not allowed to sit in the examinations on May 27 at NIT Srinagar.
She said that she failed to reach the centre on time and later the authorities barred her from writing her paper.
Rehana said that they also approached to the higher ups in this regard but unfortunately nobody is paying heed to their sufferings. “We approached to the board officials and here we came to know that about 8000 aspirants out of 50000 didn’t appear in the examinations,” she said.
She said that there are dozens of candidates who were ‘disallowed’ to appear in the examinations.
The aspirants later appealed to the JKSSB to look into the matter and fulfill their demands at an earliest. (KNS)
