Jammu, May 28 Asserting that peace is prerequisite for progress, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said that India was not having any problem to have dialogue with the neighboring Pakistan but it must give up its policy of supporting and aiding militancy.
“Peace is prerequisite for progress. If we have tensions, we cannot concentrate on developmental activities and peace as well,” said Naidu while addressing the august gathering of scientists at Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine here on Monday.
“Peace and prosperity go together. Peace is the prerequisite for the development and without peace there cannot be any progress. We have no problem with our neighbor and we want to have good relations with all, including Pakistan,” Vice President said adding, “we must be willing to have dialogue with Pakistan but it must give up policy of supporting, aiding, abetting, training terror”.
Naidu also advised the scientists not to do research for self but for the people so that they get benefited.
“Research and development made us grow and they develop us,” he said.
He further said, “Education is not only for employment but also for enhancement of knowledge. It is for empowerment, enlightenment and we must have such subjects and curriculum to enhance our knowledge.”
“Emphasis must be laid on knowing but not on what is taught,” he added.
“If you have a healthy state, you will definitely have a wealthy state. By healthy I do not mean to say about simple health but of mind and thoughts, healthy by peace and development, you will be healthy by economy,” said Naidu.
“If world is progressing, country is progressing, people of India are progressing then why Jammu and Kashmir should lack behind. Question this to yourself and find out the reply, Naidu added.
He also said that reform, perform and transform is must and ordinary people also have rich talent but they need to be encouraged and skilled.
