Srinagar, May 27: A complete shutdown was observed in Tral sub-division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to mark the first death anniversary of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Sabzar Bhat and his associate Faizan Bhat.
Reports said that all shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads.
Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, alias Soub Don of Rathsuna hamlet of Tral was killed along with his associate, Faizan Bhat at Saimoh in a gunfight with government forces on May 27, 2017.
Minor stone-pelting protests were held in the town earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Leader, Umer Adil Dar paid glowing tributes to the former Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat and Shaheed Faizan of Tral on their first “martyrdom anniversary”.
Umer Adil while Paying tributes to both the slain said that the precious lives and blood given by these “martyrs” will not be given to go waste.
He said that the ongoing suppression won’t deter us from carrying forward the peaceful struggle of the right to self-determination. (GNS)
