PM Modi accepts Virat Kohli’s fitness challenge

NEW DELHI: Two days after Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore urged Indians to get fitter as part of #HumFitTohIndiaFit campaign, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli took up the challenge and has posted a fitness video of his own.
Sharing the video on twitter, Kohli is seen performing an exercise for the lower abdomen, calling it his “favourite core workout”.
Kohli’s video comes in response to Rathore’s earlier tweet, in which the Union Minister of Youth Affairs challenged the Indian captain, 2012 London Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal and Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan to join in.
Not only did Kohli pull it off effortlessly, in the tweet, he extended the challenge to his wife Anushka Sharma, fellow cricketer MS Dhoni and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to which the Indian PM responded: “Challenge accepted, Virat! I will be sharing my own #FitnessChallenge video soon. @imVkohli #HumFitTohIndiaFit.”As part of the #HumFitTohIndiaFit campaign, Rathore, Olympic medallist at Athens 2004, spoke of the importance of fitness as stressed by Prime Minister Modi, and encouraged Indians to become fitter by getting down and doing 10 push-ups. Rathore has invited Indians to post pictures and videos of their fitness attempts and regimes on Twitter using the hashtag #FitnessChallenge and #HumFitTohIndiaFit.
Kohli is not the first to answer the challenge. Rathore’s initiative has garnered positive response from a plethora of Indian personalities, including Saina Nehwal, actor Manoj Tiwari, Salman Khan, Tiger Shroff, wrestler Babita Phogat, para-badminton player Manasi Joshi and many more, all of whom have shared their fitness videos on twitter.
