Water scarcity sparks protest in Batwara

Srinagar, May 22: Scarcity of drinking water sparked a protest in Batwara area of Srinagar city on Tuesday.
The locals who assembled in the area and staged anti PHE slogans alleged that despite raising matter with the top officials, no measures were taken to supply water to the area. The protesting locals said that there has been acute shortage of water in the area while womenfolk have to cover a long distances to fetch the potable water.
“Today we staged a peaceful protest. Tomorrow we will hit to roads and block traffic in case our problem is not addressed,” said a local.
When contacted, a concerned official said that they will ensure the area gets potable water without any disruption. (CNS)
