Ganderbal, May 20: Residents of Kullan village of Gund tehsil of central Kashmir district on Sunday afternoon staged protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) for not providing proper electricity in the holy month of Ramadan.
Chanting anti-PDD slogans, the protesters blocked the Srinagar-Leh Highway due to which hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on the both sides of the highway.
They said many villages including Kullan,Gagangir, Sonamarg, Mammar, Ganiwan, Sumbal, and Gund are suffering a lot due to unscheduled power cuts in the holy month of Ramadan.
The protesters told Precious Kashmir that despite paying monthly electricity bills on time, PDD has failed to ensure adequate power supply in our areas particularly the month of Ramadan.
Later Police party Gund along with its SHO reached to the spot and assured people of addressing the problem.
