Allow law to take its course

The Supreme Court has finally transferred the Kathua rape and murder case to Pathankot to ensure fair trial.
The horrific rape and murder case of an eight year old nomad girl had triggered outrage across the state. And the revelations made by the Crime Branch about how the child was tormented created ripples across the country.
There are still many people in Jammu region who believe that probe conducted by the Crime Branch has not been fair. And the case should be reinvestigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Many people are of the opinion that this case has been politicized to the hilt and efforts are being made to save the accused.
Now the case is in the court and it’s expected that law would take its own course. If the accused are not found guilty they would be set free but if they are found involved they would have to face the law.
The ousted BJP Minister Chaudary Lal Singh has been taking out rallies in Jammu region to seek the CBI probe into the case. He has taken the government head on. If he is not reined in there is every possibility about situation taking an ugly turn and it can pit one community against another.
The Supreme Court on Monday transferred the trial and ordered that it be fast-tracked and conducted on a day-to-day basis to avoid any delay.
All the saner elements are of the opinion let the court decide the future course of the action. A few people who want to communalize the situation should bear in mind that the victim was just eight year old. And she could have been anyone’s daughter.
