Guwahati police arrest two for looting Israeli tourist

Guwahati: City police here apprehended a driver of a city passenger vehicle and his helper for looting an Israeli tourist, Kohen Neer, in Khanapara area in the city on Saturday night when the tourist was about to board a bus to travel to Majuli River island in eastern Assam.
Police said the accused Buman Saikia and Dipankar Saloi snatched a bag from the tourist around 9 pm.
On the basis of a police complaint lodged by the tourist, a case was registered under Section 379 of the IPC at the Dispur police station in the city.
Police recovered three ATM cards, Rs 14,000 in cash, 200 euros and 200 US dollars from the arrested duo Buman Saikia and Dipankar Saloi.
The 27-year-old tourist from Israel came to Guwahati on April 26 and spent a night at the house of one of his friends near the IOCL refinery at Noonmati in the city.
