Shopian remains shut for 3rd day against civilian killing

Srinagar, Apr 29: Life remained affected for the third day on Sunday due to shut down in Shopian in south Kashmir in protest against the killing of a student during a shootout at Anantnag on Thursday.
Life elsewhere in the south Kashmir was normal.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Shopian against the killing of Shafiq Shabir Shah. Police said 21-year-old Shah, a student of BA second year was injured when militants, travelling in a car opened fire on Thursday afternoon.
Shah was rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to Srinagar. He was declared brought dead in the hospital. However, some private vehicles were plying on different routes in the district.
Additional security forces have been deployed to maintain law and order, official sources said.
