Srinagar, 29: Militants on Sunday attacked an Army patrol party in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.
They said that militants attacked a patrol party of 34 Rashitriya Rifles (RR) in Zainapora in Shopian on Sunday. “The soldiers retaliated, ensuing in a brief exchange of fire,” they said.
However, the militants managed to escape from the spot, they said, adding no one was injured in the attack.
Additional security forces were rushed to the area and a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) was launched. But, after several hours, the CASO was called off.
