Bar Council of India’s clean chit to Kathua Bar shameful: Er Rasheed

Srinagar, Apr 27: Terming Bar Council of India’s clean chit to Kathua Bar for its shameful act of preventing crime branch from producing the Challan before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua in rape and murder case of year old girl, Independent lawmaker MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Friday said that the Bar Council of India has shaken the faith of not only Kashmiris but every conscience bearing citizen.
While addressing public meetings at Lawoosa, Khudi and other places in Handwara Rasheed said that Bar Council has exposed itself by claiming that its investigation has not found Bar Council guilty and also by supporting CBI probe. He said that one has every reason to believe that after huge worldwide hue and cry, Bar Council of India sent Kathua under a well-crafted plan to defuse the situation and ultimately defend the culprits who have shamed their profession.
The spokesman quotes Rasheed saying “it is unfortunate that the team of Bar Council of India which visited Kathua turned a blind eye towards the shameful incidents which took place on the day when challan was produced and everything was in public domain. Bar council even ignored the report of Principal District Judge who had confirmed that Crime Branch was prevented from producing Challan before CJM by Kathua Bar. It is evident that the Bar Council of India had an agenda to restore the credibility and dignity of the goons of Kathua Bar. It looks laughable when Bar Council of India accuses media of misrepresenting the reports about victim’s lawyer, Deepika Singh, being prevented and threatened by the lawyer’s body.”
Er Rasheed appealed world community to play its role in protecting the life, dignity and honour of minority community in Jammu and delivering justice to the 8-year-old victim. Reacting to Supreme Court’s staying trial of the case Rasheed appealed Supreme Court to constitute a fast trail court which should hear the case in Kashmir as not only the lawyer of the victim but the family of the victim also feel threats in entire Jammu province.
