Finally Jammu and Kashmir government has given its nod for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations and employees are all set to draw higher salaries from next month.
The decision of the government to make its employees comfortable is a welcome step and they deserved a hike as the growing inflation and the increase in cost of living had made things difficult for them.
The employees are happy and they have termed the increase in their salaries as a victory for them. Everyone is happy for them.
After the state cabinet gave its nod to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that her government is committed to fulfill all the commitments which it has made to the people. Despite financial implications and J&K facing the cash crunch the state government has gone ahead with the decision.
One hopes that increased salary package would also improve the work culture in the government offices. The government employees need to bear in mind that they are public servants. They have to ensure that the people who approach them don’t return empty handed.
It’s an established fact that employees are an integral part of governance system their welfare in terms of emoluments, accommodation, career progression etc have always been a priority for the government. Employees need to dispel the notion that they don’t work hard. They have to prove themselves and prove their critics wrong. The government employees need to bear in mind that they are the only section of the society whose jobs are secure and the money spent by them to a great extent sustains the economy of Kashmir.
