Jammu, Apr 18: As a part of the on-going nation-wide “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”, the Secretary Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda today flagged off a Swachhta Rath from Satwari Chowk to Udhampur District to create awareness among the people.
The Secretary was accompanied by Director Rural Sanitation, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, BDO Satwari, and other senior officers of the Department.
While speaking on the occasion the secretary exhorted on active partaking of people in the Abhiyan for achieving goals under ‘Clean India Mission.
She further added that Department of Rural Development is putting in concerted efforts job in achieving ODF status in various districts and asked the concerned for creating mass awareness about the issue.
Giving an elaborate account of the total number of Individual Household Latrine constructions, Sheetal Nanda said that as many as 438000 IHHLs have been constructed in 2017-18 alone. She further said that out of total target of 2500 Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs), 1139 CSCs have been completed so far.
