Srinagar, Apr 12: Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Sheesh Paul Vaid on Thursday commended the Crime Branch team for its investigation into the rape-and-murder of an eight-year-old Muslim nomadic child in Kathua district in January this year.
Director General of Police, Vaid took to social networking website Twitter to praise the team which, he said, has done an extensive investigation into the brutal rape and subsequent murder of Asifa Bano.
He said the culprits into the heinous crime will be punished.
“@JmuKmrPolice Crime Branch has done a commendable job in investigating the unfortunate case of Asifa’s rape & murder. JKP is a highly professional police force and I’m sure the law will take its due course and the culprits will be suitably punished for this heinous crime,” Vaid tweeted.
Crime branch in its charge sheet presented chilling and horrifying details of the case.
According to the charge sheet, the eight-year-old was gangraped thrice inside the Devasthan or prayer hall, after the mastermind had “performed rituals”.
“One of the rapists was called from Meerut to satisfy his lust,” charge sheet read.
