Jammu, Apr 11: An army soldier was killed in Pakistani shelling at Salotri area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Station House Officer (SHO) Jhulaas, Reyaz ul Haq said that Pakistan Army attacked Indian Army posts in Krishna Ghati, Salotri, and Khari Karmara sectors today late in the afternoon.
However, in the exchange of fire, Sepoy Ehrot Kiram of 4 Martha Light Infantry regiment was seriously injured at army’s post namely “Deep 2” at Salotri.
Kiam was immediately evacuated to a nearby military medical room where he succumbed.
A senior army official also confirmed the killing and said that the Pakistani army violated ceasefire violation and attacked the army posts along the border at around 5:00 pm.
Army retaliated strongly and effectively, the officer said, adding that the intermittent exchange of firing continued for several hours. (GNS)
