Parmanand Arya reviews progress of PMMVY at Kupwara

Kupwara, Apr 8: In order to review the progress of Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), the Joint Director, Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI Parmanand Arya took a review meeting at Kupwara today.
The PMMVY, which is being monitored directly by PMO office, aims at providing partial compensation for wage loss to women during their pregnancy and offers a cash incentive of Rs 5,000 to mothers for the birth of their first child,
The District Programme officer Kupwara Mumtaz Ahmad gave a brief presentation about the scheme and the progress achieved in the district. While highlighting the progress, the DPO informed that the district is leading in enrolment of beneficiaries and disbursements of payments to beneficiaries across the whole state. He informed that the district has been declared Aspirational District by NITI Ayog and a multi level strategy has already been devised under the guidance and supervision of DDC Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir.
It was given out in the meeting that while preparing District action plan of Kupwara district, the DDC Kupwara has called for a proactive approach on the part of all officials to synergise efforts so that beneficiaries at the ground level could enjoy the benefits.
The joint director stressed on wider outreach of the scheme and later held an open interaction with all officials and discussed the problems being faced on ground and their solutions. The joint director later visited various centers of Kupwara, Trehgam, Kalaroos, Sogam and interacted with PMMVY beneficiaries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director ICDS Rashida, District Programme officer Kupwara Mumtaz Ahmad (KAS) , CDPOs and supervisors of ICDS Kupwara.
