Srinagar, Mar 29: Security forces conducted Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Hajin area of north Kashmir district of Bandipora early Thursday morning, official sources said.
However, no one was arrested, they said adding security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators who were trying to disrupt the operation.
Sources said on a tip off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation in a village at Hajin in Bandipora early Thursday morning. All the exit points were sealed and later house-to-house searches were conducted. No one was arrested, they said.
However, local residents in the nearby areas, mostly youths, hit the streets and tried to disrupt the operation. Security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators, who were pelting stones, they added.
Later the operation was called off, they added.
