Troopers thrash people in Tahab after “noticing” suspicious movement

Pulwama, Mar 27: The vandalizing of property and thrashing of people the hands of Indian Para military troopers sparked shutdown and protest in Tahab hamlet of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Locals alleged that troopers not only fired gunshots in air but also forcibly barged into the houses and thrashed people. They also hurled abuses on men and women and damaged houses and vehicles, said locals.
The locals staged protest and blocked road for hours. The protesting locals alleged that on the pretext of suspicious movement, Indian Para military troopers thrashed them without any provocation.
They said troopers barged into their houses after few gunshots were heard near the CRPF camp.
“At least a dozen people have sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment,” they said.
They said that CRPF sentry fired few rounds in the air after noticing suspicious movement around 8:15 pm.
A police official said that they will investigate why people were thrashed.(CNS)
