Finally Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to issue the SRO for implementation for the recommendations of 7th pay commission.
The employees have been waiting for the announcement for the past many months. Once the recommendations of the 7th pay commission are implemented the government employees would get significant hike in their salary packages and it would help them in meeting their ends meet.
Minister for Finance and Education, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari Saturday reviewed implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations for the state government employees and pensioners as per the announcement made earlier in the budget session.
During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held for issuance of relevant SRO regarding implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations.
He has directed the concerned officers to make it effective in the next month as per the commitment made by the Jammu and Kashmir government in budget 2018-19.
It’s after a long time that state government employees would get a significant hike in their salaries. In 2009 employees had to stage massive demonstrations to get the recommendations of sixth pay commission implemented in the state. However, this time around they did not stage any protests to get the recommendations implemented.
People are hoping that increase in salaries of the employees would help in improving the work culture in the state. It would make the government employees more accountable. There allegations that system has become corrupt and it needs to be streamlined. One hopes that besides increasing the salaries government would also work on curbing the corrupt practices in the government offices. Lets hope that fatter salary packages would make the officials more responsive.
