Pramod Jain administers pledge to conserve water
Jammu 23 Mar: To mark the celebrations of ‘World Water Day, State Water Resources Regulatory Authority (SWRRA) organized a programme at Regional Office, SWRRA, Satwari here yesterday. The theme of this year’s World Water Day at international level is “Nature for Water”.
Chairman, State Water Resources Regulatory Authority, Pramod Jain, who was the chief guest on the occasion administered pledge to the officers and employees of SWRRA on conservation of water.
Highlighting the importance of safe drinking water and total sanitation, the Chairman stressed on the need of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities and said that the focused attention is given towards importance of sustainable management of fresh water resources in the state.
He said that the water cooperation is a foundation for peace and sustainable development which contributes to poverty reduction and equity creates economic benefits, health preservation of water resources and environment.
The Chairman asked the concerned officers to spread mass awareness and educate people regarding reuse and recycling of waste water, harvesting rain water, safeguarding rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands, traditional water bodies and many alike.
Pertinently, World Water Day is celebrated to increase the awareness among the people about the importance, need and conservation of water.
Member, SWRRA, Ravi Magotra, Secretary, Ravi Kanth, AEE, Altaf Hussain and senior functionaries of the concerned department were present on the occasion.
