Handle Kashmir with care

Secretary General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sitaram Yechury has described Kashmir situation as “dangerous and can explode anytime.”
Yechury is not the only person who has described Kashmir situation as dangerous and explosive. Whoever has visited Kashmir in the recent past has described situation in Kashmir as explosive. Everyone is trying to tell New Delhi that situation in Kashmir is uncertain but people at the top seem to be of the opinion that “nothing is wrong” in the Valley and the government forces can easily tackle the emerging situation. “PM Modi’s Kashmir policy has been disastrous and directionless. Today Kashmir is in the midst of dangerous situation which can explode anytime,” a media reported quoted Yehcury as having said.
It has been a longtime since PM Modi has spoken on Kashmir or about the policies being followed by him vis-à-vis Kashmir. He has maintained silence over the issue. Only man who quite issues statements on Kashmir is the Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. It looks like that he is running the Kashmir affairs and he has been given a free hand to do whatever he wants.
At present a notion has been created that India is fighting a cold war with Pakistan at the Line of Control and in the Kashmir Valley. Opinion is being build that war is the only solution to resolve all the issues with Pakistan. But many people are asking the question is war really a solution? Can’t India and Pakistan sit across the table and sort out their differences? The prevailing uncertainty and chaos can wreck havoc at any point of time.
