Drabu spoke against party not the govt: Syed Bashir

Srinagar, Mar 14: Syed Bashir Ahmad, two-time PDP MLA from Pulwama’s Rajpora constituency presently represented in the Assembly by ousted Finance Minister Haseeb A Drabu, has said that if Haseeb Drabu has spoken against the party’s core political agenda then why the party has not taken against him as a party leader and sitting MLA.
In reply to a question, he said as per the media reports Drabu has not spoken against the government but the party and as such action against him should have been taken by the party and not the government.
“By pleading the social problems of Kashmir during a conference on Kashmir in Delhi, Drabu has virtually sought the attention of the central government for resolving the issues confronting the youth and the development and as such his statement doesn’t go against the government,” he said.
He said that it is surprising that he has been ousted from the government and continues to be the member of the party against the core political agenda of which he has spoken.
Asked if given an offer to return to party fold whether he would like to join the PDP again, Bashir said, “Action has been taken against me for none of my faults as I wasn’t even asked to explain my position the time I was disengaged from the party. I always respected Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed much more than my own father and had equal regards for the party president Mehbooba Mufti. I have nothing against the party but the party leadership disowned me. I have no regrets as I live simple life for the last three years. I feel sad to see Drabu being dropped from the cabinet as a human being and as well as a politician. I don’t feel happy over the exit of Haseeb Drabu from the state cabinet.” (KNS)
