Omar takes jibe at BJP for losing both LS seats in UP bypolls

Srinagar, Mar 14: Taking a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party for losing both the Lok Sabha seats in by-polls in Utter Pradesh (UP), former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said ‘dear friends in the BJP, thank you for your hard work and continuing efforts to prove me wrong. I’m truly grateful’.
“Dear friends in the BJP, thank you for your hard work & continuing efforts to prove me wrong. I’m truly grateful. Sincerely, your friendly opposition guy,” Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on twitter.
With this comment, Abdullah had also retweeted his tweet from March 2017, which read, “At this rate we might as well forget 2019 & start planning/hoping for 2024.”
The former chief minister also congratulated Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati for the stupendous performance in Gorakhpur and Phulpur.
“Congratulations to @yadavakhilesh & #Mayawati ji for the stupendous performance in #Gorakhpur & #Phulpur. Thank you for giving people the promise of a better future after 2019,” he said.
“Leaving the dinner yesterday #BSP’s #SatishMishra ji had told me to look out for a surprise result in today’s counting. Trends at the moment would suggest he was right,” Abdullah tweeted earlier in the day.
In a huge setback for the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP, the SP, backed by BSP, has won the Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha by-elections, the parliamentary constituencies which were stronghold of BJP.
